How To Celebrate Imbolc
Imbolc (pronounced “IM-bulk”) is one of the eight major festivals celebrated in the ancient Gaelic tradition, & it marks the beginning of spring. It is celebrated on February 1st or 2nd, halfway between the winter solstice & the spring equinox.
Imbolc is a time of new beginnings & purification, as well as a time to honor the goddess Brigid, who represents creativity, healing, & inspiration. It is also associated with the lactation of ewes, as this is when the first lambs are born & milk begins to flow.
Traditionally, Imbolc is celebrated by lighting candles, making offerings to Brigid, & performing rituals to welcome the returning sun & the coming of spring. Some modern celebrations may include making corn dollies, weaving Brigid’s crosses, or planting seeds to symbolize the renewal of life.
Here are some excellent ways to celebrate Imbolc:
Light Candles
Lighting candles is a traditional way to celebrate Imbolc, as it represents the return of light. You can light white or yellow candles & place them around your home.
